and the Winners are……….A great turn out tonight for our Quiz Night with 7 tables of 6 players competing for the big prize. Teams called themselves Xmas Turkeys, Supremes, Robyn’s Nest, Dream Team, Pointers, Invisibles and Brain of Mensis. ![]()
We had five rounds – Easy Openers, Geography, Science, Sport and Stumpers to finish the competition, and in between rounds we had a "Can You Recognise Your Fellow Petanque Players?" round (identifying members from cropped photos) and a Lyrical round, where the first line of a song was given and the name of the song and artist/band had to be identified. One of the songs in the Lyrical round was "You’ll Never Walk Alone" and, once it was identified, the whole room sang it all the way through, with lots of swaying hands in the air. Something to do with Liverpool Soccer Club?? Robert and Jacques got a drinks voucher for singing the rest of an identified song for us.![]()
During the night prizes were awarded for the "Can You Recognise Your Fellow Petanque Players?" round (The Pointers took out this prize) and the Lyrical round (won by Dream Team). It was The Invisibles who ended the night with the highest score (60 points), just two points ahead of Dream Team.![]()
Thanks to Brett and Michael for looking after the bar and to those members who helped with the clean up. Thanks, also, to Lee who donated a dozen bottles of wine to be used as prizes and The Invisibles were the recipients of six of these, together with a $20 gift card for each member.![]()
Many of the players expressed their thanks for a great night and want another Quiz Night in 2024

Come and try petanque at the Prospect club was a great success on a sunny warm day today. 22 visitors were encouraged by Facebook, flyers, friends or the council website and enjoyed a sausage sizzle (thanks Steve) and an introduction to the game with Stan and Glenis. Members were happy to share the fun of the game with 7 pistes in use at one stage.
Hospitality and chatting after some friendly games continued with Brett and Michael providing bar service.
Thanks to all who letterbox dropped, shared on Facebook and with friends and to the Prospect Council website and to Yvonne for setting up boules for games.
