It was an early start requiring players to be at their various venues by 7.30 just as the sun was coming up. Men's preliminary games were played at Adelaide and finals at Novar and Women's games were played at Novar Gardens.

5 games were played before the final rounds in the afternoon.
Gavin Scott ended 3rd in the Men's Over 60's singles and Yvonne Klop ended equal 5th in the women's section, her first time in the quarter final at National level.

Congratulations to all our members who participated today. Some of them are back bright and early tomorrow for the mixed doubles.

Pinch and a Punch for the first day of the month, it was a great night for the new quarter of the Wednesday Nigh Melele - "April". About 40 people were primed for the two games. After the first game we were served a great meal of delicous lamb with special mint sauce and aq geneours serve of vegetables and bread. After the second game it was hotcross bun pudding. Thanks to our cooks Wendy and Alan. As I mentioned that it was the new quarter for the Wednesday Night Melee, so it was time to announce the winners of the last round , in third place was Allison, and David from the Gawler club was second. The winner of the last quarter was Mellissa who was not available to collect her winnings so Alan is taking care of them. Congratulations to everyone who participated. ... See MoreSee Less

Big day today, with our 30th birthday Foundation Cup! An appropriate 30 teams turned up on yet another glorious day at Prospect - it's always sunny here! Despite a backwards 3 on our group photo, it was all forwards after that, with a great group of players either preparing for the Nationals next week, or just there to have fun.

Foundation members Brett and Allan were present, along with players from other clubs, but it was the 13 home teams from Prospect that really showed how active a club we have! For me, it was so important to hear from a newish local team that, while it's a competition and there were some quality players present, everyone was so friendly and encouraging and that made it an enjoyable rather than intimidating experience. I really think that's what makes the local SA events such a success.....
Lunch was provided by Wendy (assisted by Alan) and it was magnificent - stuffed meatloaf and veg, followed by spectacular cheesecake, all for the princely sum of $10.

Competition was hot and the pistes busy, and with only the top 4 going through to the principale, a dropped game was the difference. Perhaps the most anticipated game was the gun shooting final, which turned out to be the Consolante , where Van and Arwed took on Deb and Terence and prevailed 13-10.

The favorites absence from the principale final didn't detract from the game between Ha & Selina and Gavin & Melissa. Ha and Selina got out to an 8-1 lead before Melissa and Gavin found their groove, and there was some spectacular shooting and pointing from both sides before Gavin and Melissa ran out winners 13-8. Other results saw:
- Conviviale: Dom and Sandy
- Social 1: Ray and Deb
- Social 2: David and Gazza
- Social 3: Richard and Dee
- Social 4: Kym and Graham
- Social 5: Lee and Peter

Huge thanks to all involved:
- Wendy and Alan for catering
- Brett (newly anointed chair of the National Umpiring Commission) for slumming it with us mere mortals
- Steve for scoring (good luck in the next week!)
- Prospect team for setting up, cleaning up and making everyone welcome!

Today we celebrated 30 years of the Prospect Petanque Club which began in 1996. The constitution was ratified in February, the fiirst official game was played on the 28th March, with the official opening being done by the Lord Mayor at the time Annette Effie, on the 24th April, so we will celebrate that with the Groove Brothers Event.

We had some founding members who are still involved in the club attend today and we asked Brett Williams to officially cut our cake. A big thank you to all our members past and present for the camaraderie that is within our club. Onward and upward.

We had over 40 members attend our celebration today and during the presentation/celebration we also presented both Melissa and Gavin Scott their singles medals for the 2025 Singles Competition.

This competition will be run differently in 2026 but more details on that later. Cheers to the next 30 years

Details of that event on the 24th April are on the link below.

We were fortunate to still have some lovely weather to play in, while waiting for our evening meal at the club. Players got to play two games before being served with a flavoursome meal of Italian style sausages served with lemony potatoes, served with Tomato and Green Beans. Thanks to Disey and crew.....

We also celebrated a longstanding member Steve Kelly’s birthday so dessert was cake! Happy Birthday Steve.
