State Selection Trials
Following the approval of the S.A.P.L, for the selection proposal put forward by the S.A coaches, we are now inviting S.A licensed players to attend State Squad trials.
This process will begin with participants being asked to complete a one hour skill test. The skill test can be taken on any one of the following Saturdays the 11th, 18th, or 25th of August. Skill Test detail attached. Players are required to complete the skill test only once, however, they may, take the test twice and have the average score taken.
The terrain at Tempe, where we will be playing, is not a rolling surface. On this ground, to point well, a player needs to have the ability to play in the air (lob the boule). That is the reasoning behind why the skill tests are set up, as they are, and why we have chosen to use a particular part of the Prospect P.C for the trials.
To perform well in Sydney, we will need a tough, disciplined and skilful Team.
To build ‘that’ Team we need committed players; committed to: working hard on their game, working as part of the team, working with coaches, making time for training and testing.
To make oneself available for State selection is a big commitment in energy, time and money. While, as a Team, we will do our best to raise as much money as possible for the State Teams expenses, it may still cost players to represent their State.
To represent your State is also a great honour.
The Teams required for the Interstate Tournament are:
Senior Men                        x 5
Senior Women                   x 3
Veteran Men                      x 5
Veteran Women                 x 3
As things stand, the winning Team in Sydney has the right to represent Australia at the
Trans Tasman tournament in N.Z, 2008

Good luck to everyone who puts themselves forward for selection.
Tim Whelan
