The Jacqueline Simone Cup

Held on August 29 at Prospect Pétanque, Jacqueline Simone Cup was won by Jean-Philippe Guglielmi and Grant Ashmeade.

Here they are, the champs, with the sponsor Monique Moerland.

Georges Piron - one of the stalwarts of the Prospect Pétanque Club

The Prospect Pétanque Club acknowledges Georges' enormous contribution with heartfelt gratitude. Georges, or Georgy as he is affectionately referred to, diligently maintains the grounds, is called upon for plumbing and general handyman repairs and much, much more - all with relentless good humour and grace.

Funnily enough this week of his birthday his stars had this to say ...  it was so apt we had to put it on our website:

Virgo (August 24 to September 23)

A need for involvement in group action.  This can mean involvement with a club, where you do the hard yakka - naturally.  Virgos are the unsung heroes whose fate it is to work while others enjoy all the glory.  Practical too, you call a spade a spade and some people won't like it - tough!  You will offend these people but you're in the business of getting things done, not being popular.

Thankyou Georges from everyone at the club  you are appreciated - don't mind what your stars say ... and Happy Birthday for September 21.

Wine tasting evening

Members of the Prospect and Adelaide Pétanque Clubs participating in a
wine tasting evening at the Prospect Pétanque Club on September 18, 2004.

Improvements to Club grounds

In anticipation of  hosting the Police and Fireman's Games in 2007, the Prospect Pétanque Club has undertaken significant improvements to its grounds and playing area.

The pistes have been extended in accord with international rules, and 15 fast growing and decorative trees have been planted to provide shade for players and spectators.

Players  can look forward to relief from the sun's burning rays  on those hot Adelaide summer days.

Winners are grinners

Our hearty congratulations to Dave Ward (left) and Mike Mulvihill, winners of the SA Open Doubles Championship.

The boys faced off against a hefty bunch of competitors in this gruelling competition, conceding very few points throughout the day.

In the end, they beat players from the Adelaide Club to win the trophies, glory for themselves and honour for the Prospect Pétanque Club!
